We share plenty of egregious defects found on home inspections, but we also share the good stuff, usually on Fridays. May these images inspire you, warm your heart, and bring peace on earth.
Nice filter cover. If you want to make it especially easy to know the size of your furnace filter, try this.
Jumbo-sized fire door label. Tired of complaints about the “Fire Door” stamp being too small on their doors, Mastercraft has gone the other direction with labeling. High-five.
Nice crown. The masonry is intact, it overhangs the edges of the chimney, and there’s even a drip edge installed for a capillary break — excellent, excellent work.
Love note from the listing agent. If every inspection started like this, the world would be a better place.
Love note from the seller. No, this wasn’t the same house, but it gave us the same warm-fuzzies. How thoughtful. If you’re selling your home and you want to help the inspection go smoothly, take a tip from these guys.
Dryer duct, snorkel, penguin. This is a snorkel-style dryer duct to get above grade, wrapped with insulation to minimize condensation. The homeowner affectionately referred to it as their penguin.
Garage shower on wheels. Give us one good reason why not. Love this!
Old-school garage door opener remote. Before we had remotes for garage doors, we had this. You pull your vehicle up, put the key in the thing, and your overhead door opens. Beautiful.
Toilet flange for downspout. While unconventional, this is a convenient way to get an offset in the drain line for the downspout.
Trash can bumper. This is like chair-rail for garage cans, to help prevent damage to the vinyl siding. Genious.
