If I were a genie, I’d stop you right there and tell you that’s one of your three questions. But I’m not, and we offer unlimited questions: before, during, and after the home inspection.
We reach out to our clients before every inspection to see if they have any questions or special concerns before the inspection. We set aside time during every home inspection to answer questions. At the end of the inspection, our inspectors close by giving out their email address and mobile number, encouraging our clients to call with any questions down the road; whether it’s hours or years.
We’re an education-based company, and we love talking house. When you get a home inspection with us, we want you as a client for life, so we’re happy to answer any questions you have, no matter how long ago we inspected your home.
Why questions often come later
For many buyers, the home inspection day is a whirlwind. You’re learning about a house you may have just committed to purchasing, and there’s a lot of information coming at you quickly. It’s completely normal for questions to pop into your head later that evening, the next day, or even weeks after you move in.
We expect that. In fact, we encourage it.
Sometimes you’ll reread the report and want clarification. Other times, you’ll notice something in the house and wonder, “Was this mentioned during the inspection?” Either way, we’re happy to help explain what you’re seeing and what it might mean.
The kinds of questions we often get
Many of the follow-up questions we receive are simple clarifications, such as:
-
“How serious was that issue with the furnace?”
-
“Should I fix this right away, or can it wait?”
-
“What kind of contractor should I call for this?”
- “Do you have a recommended contractor to fix this?”
-
“Is this something that was already noted in the report?”
Other times, the questions come months or years later when something new pops up in the home. Even then, we’re still glad to help point you in the right direction.
Our goal: Delivering the Unbiased Truth®
Buying a home is the start of a long relationship with the property, and questions are part of that process. While we can’t predict every future issue, we’re always happy to share what we know and help homeowners better understand their houses.
So yes, ask questions. Ask them before the inspection, during the inspection, after the inspection, and even years later. Our job isn’t just to inspect homes, it’s to help people understand them. That’s why we encourage questions at every stage of the process. The more you understand about your home, the more confident you can feel about owning and maintaining it.
We’re always happy to talk house.
